Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 different events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional title, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
